JVC KD-R300 30K Color-Illumination Single-DIN CD Receiver with Remote Control and J-Bus Expandability No Buttons?! – Kiet C. Luu –
Great price for the sound quality, but changing radio stations and programing your preferences is kind of a nightmare. This radio is really set-up time heavy and I wouldn’t recommend it for someone looking for an easy “install and enjoy” head unit.
Well I got this product for my girlfriend as a Christmas gift since I saw it in a store I liked it and I gave it to her as gift because of the illumination and features plus it was compatible with her Jeep Liberty of 2004. The only think I missing and one of the reason I would give it a 4 stars and not 5 is that instead of having the 30,000 colors that the company advertises in the box I noticed since I got it that it only turns in perhaps 15 different colors and then it keeps repeating the same colors over and over again, I do not see where are the 30,000 colors that it suppose to have? I have check the manual but it doesn’t say nothing about the illumination and how to actually see the 30,000 colors in it and I also went to the web site and neither there has anything information about the 30,000 colors.

So I am guessing it is just a trick or something to sell the product when the product actually changes around 15 colors and then keeps repeating the same colors again. So basically in that aspect I am disappointed in the other features like the ipod, the satellite I have only tried the ipod connector I haven’t yet mess with the satellite yet, but the ipod connector and sound it is actually great with no interference at all like a radio transmitter, but the radio stations seem to have some interference at times making the sound quality a little annoying and blurry. Onkyo M-282 2-Channel Power Amplifier It lasted about 30 minutes past the warranty – Robert Borzelleri –
I had this amp set up to power a distributed stereo signal to feed the rest of the house for background music. While it worked for the warranty period reasonably well, it did shut itself off for reasons that never were readily apparent.

Then one day, it tripped off never to come on again. Onkyo service is an exercise in all that is bad with customer service for electronic equipment. If it’s out of warranty by even a day, the nature of the discussion with the service tech becomes akin to wading through sludge.

Bottom line, it would cost more to fix it than the cost of a new one. It is a door stop and I bought two Audiosource amps and am quite happy, thank you. I am done with Onkyo.
About the only thing I didn’t like about my 40-inch Sony LCD HDTV (KDL-V40XBR1) was the undistinguished sound of its built-in speakers. I solved the problem with this Onkyo power amp in combination with a pair of Polk Audio Monitor 40 2-way bookshelf speakers. The audio output of the TV is fed into the RCA-type audio input of the Onkyo amp. I set Onkyo’s volume control (placed on the back of the unit) about a half-way point, and control TV’s volume with the Sony TV remote. The resulting sound is much better than the low-fi sound from the TV’s built-in sound system — richer and better defined. The Onkyo amp just sits on a lower-level of the TV stand; I don’t have to do anything with it. My black Onkyo unit is almost invisible. When I power up the TV, in a few unnoticeable seconds the Onkyo amp’s IDLE mode changes to ON mode, and the sound comes out of the Polk speakers. When I turn the TV off, the amp returns to the idle mode. It’s as though the Onkyo power amp were built into the TV. I don’t detect any noticeable hum from it, and it does not generate excess heat, as some reviewers complained about. For my rather basic needs, this is an ideal solution. I am totally satisfied with this Onkyo power amp. Onkyo: M282B 2 Channel Power Amplifier providing 100 watts of power per channel. Ideal for quality stereo listening, for expanding your surround system from 5.1 to 6.1 or 7.1 channels to deliver the latest home theater surround formats, and for multiroom setups, Onkyo’s M-282 stereo power amplifier makes a powerful and affordable system upgrade. The amp uses Onkyo’s exclusive Wide Range Amplifier Technology and pumps 2 x 100 watts per channel RMS into 8 ohm speakers and 2 x 125 wpc into 6 ohms. (For dynamic power handling, you’re looking at 2 x 140 watts into 8 ohms, 2 x 125 watts into 6 ohms.)

If you’re going for an upgrade from 5.1 to 7.1, make sure your 5.1 surround receiver has preamplifier outputs for 7.1 channels. The M-282 only amplifies a line-level signal; it does not include surround processing or a volume control like a traditional preamplifier or an integrated amplifier/surround receiver.

You can rig the amp to power up when it senses an audio signal or through the use of a 12-volt trigger (standard to automation systems). The receiver also features audio passthrough jacks in case you want to daisy-chain several like components through several rooms for multi-room distribution of your primary listening source.

The receiver uses Onkyo’s Wide Range Amplifier Technology (WRAT), which ensures signal accuracy even with high-resolution sources such as DVD-Audio and SACD. According to Onkyo, WRAT eliminates the adverse effects of counter-electromotive force by applying an unusually low amount of NFB (negative feedback), constructing the amp with carefully selected, high-tolerance, wide-range parts in all critical sections, and using innovative circuit topology based on the company’s decades of experience building high-end amplifiers. The result? A flat response beyond 100 kHz.

Rear-panel connections and controls consist of a ground (use only if the system exhibits an audible hum), an input-level adjustment, 1 each stereo analog (left/right) RCA audio input and passthrough/output, a trigger setting (audio, 12-volt, off), a 12-volt trigger input jack, left/right speaker outputs with banana-plug-friendly binding-post speaker terminals, and a grounded AC power terminal.
